Car: 1979 Nissan
Datsun
Heat: Finished 3rd

tire. The Datsun was all right.

9-6-99
Division: Denny's Grand Slammer
Car: 1977
Chevelle Malibu
Feature One: Started on pole. Pulled ahead.
Remembered that Jack told me not to win. Backed off a little as I watched
the #13, of Jack Mayberry, climb up the scoreboard. Got back on the
throttle but two lapped cars got in my way. He passed me high. I
went back high, too high, in turn four on the last lap and hit the
wall. Busted radiator and tore up front end.
Feature Two: Got
involved in wreck on 1st lap. A guy flipped right in front of
me.
Division: Hornet
Car: 1979 Nissan Datsun
Mark Akins gave
his car to my friend Scott Gorsenger because he helped us in the Lodge a
lot.
Heat: Started 6th. Got to front real quick. Ran away
with victory even after a restart.
Feature: Didn't do very well, busted
radiator. Scott almost won but got spun out by Irlacher.
9-18-99
Division: Denny's Grand Slammer
Car: 1977
Chevelle Malibu
Feature One: Started 2nd got banged around and got a
flat tire.
Feature Two: Started 2nd. Ran around with lead.
Caution on lap 3. Josh Helfand moved to second. We raced nose to
tail. Jack Mayberry was a lapped car running up high. I got slowed
up a little. Josh went low. We raced three wide. Jack ran into
Josh. I got a good lead back. Josh ran low. I ran high.
Chuck Young was slow up high and I wasn't looking far enough ahead and on the
last corner I had to go low to get by him. Josh went even lower, down in
the dirt, and coming out of four all we saw was smoke. He got me at the
line by about two feet.
Division: Hornets
Car: 1979 Nissan
Datsun
Heat: Beat Daughtery by just a couple feat for sixth or
seventh.
Feature: Started 6th. Got early lead. Spun out
coming out chicane. Spun out again going in. Got lapped, ran with
leaders. Got into the back of Daughtery because I thought he was Rich
Schinderling and I was trying the help out Lorron for the championship.
Finished 3rd in line, one lap down.

Division:
Hornets
Car: 1979 Nissan Datsun
Race: 200 lap
Enduro
Segment One Laps 1-60: All automatics started up front. I
started towards the front of all the manual transmission cars. Scott had
to wait five laps to start because his interior was stripped out and he had
"race" tires on his car. I got spun out twice at the beginning of the race
but Scott got flipped on only his seventh lap. Missed a wreck because I
jumped on the brakes on the backstretch. Once we got going I would just
tuck in behind an experienced driver like Lorron or Schinderling and move
towards the front. Trying to conserve my brakes because they were
hot.
Segment Two Laps 60-110: Changed right front and lowered all other
air pressures. Was starting toward the back. Passed a bunch of
cars. There was a big wreck right away so we had a red and my brakes
cooled down. Missed a couple of wrecks. Best one was when I used the
extra space by the pit entrance to miss a wreck. Kept moving up and a lot
of the front runners were starting to have problems.
Second Pit
stop: Lowered air pressures. Got back in line. Irlacher cut in
front of me. I rear ended him pretty good. He pulled forward and
backed into me. I flipped him off.
Segment Three Laps 110-160:
Had to wait for my air pressures to warm back up. Was a little worried
about what Irlacher would do. Started moving forward again and Joey Thomas
blew his engine going into one. I was already on the brakes and slid into
the wall.
Demo Derby: Let Chuck from back at Darrell's take my car
out.
